Sojourners to the Rescue!

For in hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what is seen? But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.

- Romans 8:24-25

The probability that we may fail in the struggle ought not deter us from the support of a cause we believe to be just.

- Abraham Lincoln

This was today's quote from the verse and voice of Sojourners.

It so, so spoke to me.

First of all, what is hope?

Is it a pie in the sky dream, or is what we know beyond know beyond know is true and just even if we can't see it and don't know when or even if in this lifetime it will become visible, but still hold on to as the ideal?

Hope for me is focusing on the end result without getting bogged down by the obstacles and doom nay saying voices along the way. It is holding fast to truth, no matter the cost. It is living according to the laws of the upside down kingdom.

Then what about those words of Abraham Lincoln?

I believe they speak to me in my personal struggles and are an encouragement to me as they should be to all of us dealing with struggles.

Coincidence? I think not. Just a whisper from God to my heart and soul. And that is what keeps me going.

Peace.
